Exciting news!  My Blog Post “Be Passionnate About Your Product” has been accepted into the MasterClass Blog Carnival.  The organizer made a few small suggestions for changes but it was accepted more or less as it was submitted… So I have been accepted into my first Blog Carnival!  Exciting times ahead.  I think the Carnival is due to be launched around 1 May so stay tuned to this blog for details.

Be passionate about your product

Sadly I have seen it so many times.  People think there is money to be made on the internet so search for the hottest niche and attempt to create a product about it.  They end up trying to write about a subject they have no interest in and do not understand, purely because “that is where the money is”.  As a consequence they quickly become bored and discouraged and a month later they have either given up on the whole internet marketing idea completely and are cursing the day they connected their computer to the internet or else had seen another shiny opportunity packed full of false promises and are now chasing after that.

If someone has tricked you into thinking you can become rich overnight then you need to read my blog post The Dark Side Of Internet Marketing!  Online success is a long journey that requires perseverance and dedication.  When starting out you really do need to choose a niche that you are passionate about, one you enjoy researching and talking about, or else you are doomed to failure before you start.  You will encounter many distractions and problems along your pathway to success and you will often feel discouraged.  You really do need to start your journey to success by choosing a niche you are passionate about.

If you are passionate about the subject you are writing about it becomes a joy to create your product and you look forward to completing it and sharing it with the world.  You become proud of what you are creating and your passion shines through your words bringing your product to life when read by your customers.

In my particular case I recently had my blog hacked.  After the initial reactions of anger had subsided I became passionate about securing my blog and have decided to create a product about what I discovered in order to help other people protect their Blogs.  I am still creating my “Essential Blog Security” product but because it is a subject that I am genuinely interested in, and am passionate about, it is a joy to write it and I am looking forward to when I can offer it for sale to help others protect their blogs.

Create products you are passionate about and the creation process becomes a joy rather than a chore!

Blog Carnival Preparation

OMG!  What have I done?  I have committed myself to joining the John Thornhill MasterClass Blog Carnival and now the nerves have starting to click in.

This will be the first time I have participated in a Blog Carnival.

I need to write a Blog Post 200-400 words long on the subject of “Passionate, focused thinking” and submit a link to my post, together with a summary a few sentences long, to the organizers by 20th April (6 days away).

Will my Post be returned to me covered with so many red ink corrections it will be impossible to tell the color of the paper?  Will it have the cryptic comments “Pathetic effort. Could do better. Don’t bother submitting again” scribbled across the bottom?  Will my dream of one day becoming a pro-blogger be smashed before I have even begun?

Hmm… word count seems important… perhaps I had better find my abacus and dust off it’s beads as I don’t want to be rejected due to a technicality.

I wonder what the other participants will be like.  Some of them are quite experienced bloggers and will, I guess, be able to conjure up quite articulate and elegant Blog Posts.  Will my simple little blog posts look childish and amateurish in comparison?

Will the Blog Posts of the other participants be so technical that I won’t be able to think of any intelligent sounding comments to leave on their blogs?

I wonder if anyone will bother to visit my little blog and leave any comments or will I end up with just a couple of 2 word “nice blog” comments left by spammers?

Perhaps I am not ready to participate in a Blog Carnival yet.

But, hey, it sounds a fun way to interact with, and meet, other bloggers.

Perhaps I will give it a try after all.

OK.  I had better get down to writing my Blog Post.

Stay tuned to read about my progress…

Blog Carnivals

Wow; I have just heard about Blog Carnivals and my brain nearly exploded!  What an amazing idea!  It is the first time I had heard of Blog Carnivals so it shows what a sheltered life I lead!

I am currently a member of John Thornhill’s MasterClass and one of my fellow students Mandy Allen has just floated the idea of running a monthly Blog Carnival.  It sounds amazing fun and a great way to build friends and backlinks.  I have blogs on several servers scattered around the world and have often wondered about how I can use this diversity of IP Addresses to provide link juice to help others and this looks an ideal, and fun, way to achieve this.

For those, like myself, new to Blog Carnivals, it appears that they consist of an organised blogfest where participants each write a post on their blog on a pre-defined topic and submit their nominated post to the Carnival Organiser who checks the post meets the defined criteria and then, on the pre-defined date, publishes a list of posts allowing everyone to engage in a massive blogfest visiting, and commenting on, the posts of all the participants.  It sounds an absolutley fun way to build relationships, and share link juice, with fellow blogging adicts.

I am looking forward to participating in my first Blog Carnival around 1 May so stay tuned to this blog for a laugh at my pathetic attempt at trying to register as a participant, my attempt at writing a suitable Blog Post, and of course, more exact details of the Blog Carnival when it launches so you can unleash your blogging passion by visiting all the participants blogs!

Lets go for it!
Ian.
